its an interesting question which I came in to my mind a few days ego. can we define human civilisation in a single word ? ? . well if its possible then who would be the right person to answer it ??. A renowned anthropologist ? or a a well read academician ??. well i think before finding this one word answer ,a more basic question needs to be addressed first . and that is , who laid the foundation for this great human civilisation ?? probably the one who invented fire i guess , or the intellectual who invented the wheel (i call him as wheeler always!!) ?? or the group of people who started hunting ?? or the group which proposed the idea of cultivation ?? well who ever , i think those are the people who were the scholars of those days , the academicians or whatever the name you can call them. 

So what drove these personalities to invent all these ??. may be a NEED. Yes and that might be the one word definition we are looking for. The word which can best describe the human civilisation. With out a NEED there is nothing . this fine piece of film named PK also talks about one such basic need in people's life called “BELIEF”. Especially the belief of the a common man towards an almighty . a belief which has the power of being a the sigh of them, a belief which can act as a heart in this heartless world, a belief which can be a spirit in a spiritless situation. does this film question the need for such a belief ?? let me say my answer at the very beginning “NO”. rather this film talks in the other way around . the crux firmly upholds the need for such a belief . it only criticise the functionary of the tool called religion , to be exact the translators who handles this tool which was invented to show the faith of a common man towards the GOD.

To full fill any need we need some work around to be done . like in the case of food its not possible to get it without cultivation and harvest. in the same way , religion is a tool to convey the belief to the almighty. There are differences in the way the tool functions , because its historically evident that, time , place and the condition in which the tool is invented made it different . But the belief remains the same all over the word. 

A belief towards an almighty who is above everything , has been an integral part of the human evolution.Though centuries together , rationalism and rationalists have questioned the functionality of this tool called religion many times , there is always an innocence present in the questions , which come from a child. And this PK is such an innocent child which posts so many such questions and got confused by the answers it got! which lead to a search and an answer too at the end!.

If we had been a society which can give the democracy and space to the questions of children then probably this child PK may not have asked these questions. Given the fact that we are not a society which allow even innocent children to ask questions freely , as a matured and intelligent guy, who is well passed 18, its hard for Amir to get a space of 3 hrs and this is quite understandable. 

Seeing religion as a faith based institution, actually can pave the way for every religion to understand other religions in a more sensible way. In other words that's when a religion can go on and inherit the necessary aspects of rationalism!! . unfortunately we are yet cross such a beautiful epoch in human history. In fact In such a situation , even the almighty would really be beyond everything as he is portrayed now!! .but unfortunately when religion and religious activities takes over the almighty the entire concept of theology itself is negated !! . that’s where the most dangerous situation of the tool over taking the need for which its invented happens. And what would be the out come of such a dangerous situation need not be explained to any average Indian . 

PK has tried to criticise all the elements which can potentially lead to such a dangerous situation with a sense of humour. In fact the dialogue in this film which goes like “there are two gods in this world , the god you created and the god who created you” is definitely a rational thought which can never negate the belief on the almighty.

By putting the belief on the back yard and religion the front , at some point of time we humans stand in the way between ourselves and the almighty . it is preciously in this kind of situation in which GURU GOBIND SNGH has declared that GRANTHA sahib is going to be the GURU and no human is deserved for it. Its in the same situation when prophet Mohammad realised the need of a new religion and established it along with the hadith. precisely in the same kind of situation Ramanujar shouted from the thirukotiyur pagoda to spread the democratic elements of vaishnavam over the autocratic proceedings of shaivam/saivites . 

All the above mentioned people were very much aware of the need for a belief on an almighty more than anyone else. And that’s why they renovated the religious tools. for them the belief is important than anything else. And that’s why they engaged themselves also also in the debate on the religion and let the others also to involve in the debate. So a narrowed religious outlook actually betrays the concept of theology itself and even betrays the almighty!! .more or less this is the same narrowed outlook which is asking a ban or a censor on PK. This is something which actually disgraces the theology and the people who believe in GOD. This is what PK says. in fact this is what rationalism says. Here there is nothing against one particular religion. so any one who stands between the bhaktha and the GOD are all accountable.

Finally just like in the climax in this film , where the lover and his love realises that they are being separated by a piece of letter which is no way related to themselves , in our world a devotee and a GOD are separated by a tool called religion , more precisely some people who come in-between the devotee and the GOD in the name of translating the language of a common man to the GOD using religious tools. in this sense PK is nothing but a cry of an innocent devotee who wants to reach his GOD with out any mediator. 

The motivation of this innocent devotee is a as sacred as the nudity of a new born child . if any one wants to see that with vulgarity , well its because they have some problem in neural mapping. so its needs a neurologist as soon as possible but not a sensor board !!!. PK’s Nudity is the nudity of varthamana. lastly , When a jeevathma is trying to mingle with the paramathma , no one in this world has the right to halt that travel . well if some one really wants to halt it , then there is no other go other than to confront them , because no jeevathma would want to take an U turn.
